crave learning

i watched this lex fridman podcast where he hosted the primagen

i look up to these certain set of engineers like mitchell hashimoto, the primagen, theo browne, lauren poteto and also old time people like edgar dijkstra, fabrice bellard so on. there is also a couple of my own friends whom i admire. the level of sophestication and the level of restraint to not giving up that they gave is unmatched.

out of all these people, i know no one that is actually born by birth with this level of skill. i see that most of them learnt it from failing. there is a certain level of go given luck and brilliance that they may possess. but there is something that can beat it. thats the volume of effort put in. there is only so much you can lose after that much of effort put in. no matter how dumb you are its impossible to actually make your brain understand if you put it through these craters of unknown knowledge.

in the seas of reels and the different ways to spend your time, its harder than ever to work at all. the ability to do deep work is going to become scarce. will take a while to get started on it and get the ball rolling as static friction is always higher than any moving friction. get started and make your goals smaller. and generally i think for some overthinkers. don't even plan at all. just pick it up and say ill do this for 10 mins. and stop looking at the clock and try to get immersed. chances are you won't get up in 10mins. if you do, try again. block all of the triggers forcing you to get up and throw that goddamn phone out the window. and for degenrates like me, please install website blockers and time limit your entire phone. if you can't seem to follow that and use all those things on your laptop/pc, just install activity watch (a free open source application that tracks your time spent on your laptop in detailed.) you will be surprised to see how much effective time is being spent on the thing you want to accomplish. i personally have been using it for more than a month and it genuinely has opened my eyes as to the amount of time wasted doing random things. no that next reel is not going to give you that fent high. rather you chase that high, atleast focus on yourself to make yourself straight. its never too late to set yourslef up for success.

once you have gotten into the groove...thats it. just keep the ball rolling and reap the benefits. but its like a tree, you have to wait for a while anywhere from 3-6months to a year and a half and you'll get to have the fruit that you never had. the fruit of satisfaction that for once, you can stop hating on yourself.
